La Via Verde de la Val de Zafan

With more than 100kms of length the Via Verde of the Val de Zafan provides one of many outstanding cycle routes in Spain. The old railway connecting the inland town of Alcaniz with the valley of the River Ebro terminating in the Ebro Delta on the Mediterranean Sea and now provides this varied and interesting cycle route.
The route crosses countryside of great variety and natural beauty, for the olive groves of Bajo Aragon to the mountains and extensive pine forests of the Puertos de Beceite and finally arriving at the orange plantations and rice paddies of the Ebro delta.
There are a number of options available on this route; from a 2 day ride to an entire week.
The routes maintain maximum concern for the environment and give you a chance to enjoy the local culture. Along the way you will encounter historic medieval villages , museums, ancient ruins of Iberia villages and interpretation centre’s.
An example of the options is a 6 night’s / 7 day
This holiday includes the length of the Via Verde plus an additional day in the surrounding countryside. It is a cycle route rated as moderate and allows plenty of time on route for exploration of the local medieval villages and the surrounding countryside.
Day 1.
Arrival and reception in La Fresneda. Accommodation is in the Hotel El Convent.

Day 2.
Transfer to the start of the 1st stage of the Via Verde.
Alcaniz to La Fresneda ; length 38kms , approximately 4 hours moderate cycling
Accommodation in La Fresneda at Hotel El Convent with Dinner and Breakfast.
Day 3.
2nd Stage , Starting and finishing in La Fresneda . length 25 kms and approximately 3 hours 30 minutes moderate cycling
Accommodation in La Fresneda at Hotel El Convent with Dinner and Breakfast
Day 4.
3rd Stage La Fresneda to Horta Sant Joan , length 35kms and approximately 4 hours moderate cycling
Transfer of luggage to the next accommodation and transfer from the end of the route to your hotel in Beceite. Accommodation in Hotel La Fabrica del Solfa with dinner and breakfast
Day 5.
4th Stage . Beceite to Beceite. Length 25kms and approximately 3 hours 30 minutes moderate cycling
Accommodation in Hotel La Fabrica del Solfa with dinner and breakfast
Day 6.
5th and final stage. Transfer from your Hotel in Beceite to the start of the route in Horta de Sant Joan .
Horta de Sant Joan to Roquetes . Length 45 kms and approximately 4 hours moderate cycling.
Transfer from Roquetes back to your hotel in Beceite.

Day 7.
Departure after breakfast
